Barcelona Activa ethical channel

The ethical channel enables incidents, situations or types of behaviour to be reported that go against the law or Code of Ethics and, therefore, regulations, corporate values and ethical principles of action. 

The purpose is to facilitate the whistleblowing of any information that allows Barcelona Activa to detect, prevent and correct possible violations of legal and corporate regulations.

Its task is not to make general complaints or suggestions, as there is already a complaints and suggestions box available for these: Complaints and suggestions mailbox.

Whistleblowers must use the Ethics Channel in good faith and in honest conscience regarding the truth of the information, their whistleblowing must have a minimum basis and, where appropriate, produce proof or sufficient objective circumstantial evidence for the information reported to be considered truthful. 

Whoever makes a report that is false or in bad faith or with the intention to cause harm may be subject to disciplinary action.

This ethical channel guarantees confidentiality and enables anonymous whistleblowing.

Barcelona Activa will guarantee the indemnity and protection of whistleblowers as provided for under Act 2/2023, governing the protection of whistleblowers reporting violations of regulations and actions undermining the fight against corruption.

How does it work?

Whistleblowers will need to select the type of incident or situation they wish to report.

Data identifying whistleblowers are optional, as the channel allows anonymous whistleblowing. Whistleblowers can therefore choose between opening the pull-down menu for identifying data and fill it in or continue without entering such information where they wish to remain anonymous.

In any case, the whistleblowing will be confidential whether or not any identifying data have been provided.
Data on the incident, situation or type of behaviour forming the subject matter of the whistleblowing will then have to be produced. For the purposes of enabling the whistleblowing to be properly managed, the whistleblower is advised to give an account in as much detail as possible of the incidents they have knowledge of, if it is possible to identify the precise time, individuals affected or involved and the location. The channel allows whistleblowers to attach any documents they regard as necessary for supplementing their information.

Once the incidents have been reported, a password will need to be generated. It will have to have at least 8 characters, including a capital letter, a lower-case letter and a number. Special characters will not be accepted.

A document will be generated once the process has finished, stating the reported incidents and a tracking number which, along with the password, will allow the whistleblower to check the status of their report and continue interacting with the channel or facilitators.

IMPORTANT: Whistleblowers must keep hold of their password and tracking number if they wish to manage and process their communications as neither can be recovered or regenerated.
