Barcelona Circular (BAC), the new Economic Activity Hub focused on the circular economy and the digital transformation of industry, is inaugurated.
A new facility located in the Sant Andreu district to promote sustainable models, talent, and collaboration.
Barcelona, 30 Oct 2025
Today marks the opening of Barcelona Circular (BAC), the city's new Economic Activity Hub. It is dedicated to the circular economy and the digital transformation of industry. The facility, located in the Bon Pastor neighborhood, is promoted through a public-private partnership by the Ajuntament de Barcelona, through Barcelona Activa, the Faculty of Business Studies at Mondragon University (MONDRAGON), and TeamLabs.
The infrastructure, which operates as a laboratory for entrepreneurship and innovation in the circular economy, will pursue the goal of promoting the digital transformation of industry, as well as supporting the implementation of new, more sustainable circular economy models that generate a positive impact on the region and contribute to the creation and attraction of talent and the generation of quality employment.
The new facility has 3,400 m2 distributed over three floors designed and laid out to achieve the objectives set out in the four strategic lines:
-
Talent and training, with practical itineraries adapted to the needs of the sector.
-
Entrepreneurship and new business models, with incubation and acceleration programs.
-
Business competitiveness and innovation, with prototyping of solutions in the digital manufacturing workshop.
-
Connection with the community, as a space for open innovation between agents in the ecosystem and industry.
The Economic Activity Hubs are an initiative of Ajuntament de Barcelona, through Barcelona Activa, to strengthen the city's strategic sectors, generate quality employment, and promote entrepreneurship and investment. All the hubs are part of the Barcelona Impulsa plan, the roadmap for the city's economic promotion until 2035.
The BAC is the second specialized space to be launched in the city, after Barcelona XRLAB, dedicated to the creative industries. The network of strategic facilities will continue to grow with Barcelona Urban Innovation (BUI), promoted by the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, and with a new hub dedicated to the care economy in aging.
