Barcelona Activa's training and work programme offers seven specialties linked to the environment and the cultural and creative industries

Barcelona, 03 Oct 2025

The Trades Workshops is starting, a programme promoted by Barcelona Activa and aimed at young people between 16 and 30 years old who are unemployed. The aim of this initiative is to improve professional preparation and foster the labour inclusion of this group, which continues to encounter greater difficulties in accessing the labour market. At the end of the programme, participants obtain specialised training, practical experience and a diploma, elements that strengthen their position in the labour market.

Pre-registrations are now open for the 2026 edition, which is scheduled to start in January and combines up to six months of grant-based internships with six months of employment contract.

This programme offers seven specialties grouped into two major professional areas:

  • The Barcelona Trades Workshop for Nature, with itineraries in Art and Floral Design, Environmental Education and Forestry Work, oriented towards tasks in parks and green areas, as well as citizen awareness actions.

  • The Show and Creative Industries Trades Workshop, with four technical specialties: Production and Floor management, Sound, Audiovisuals and Lighting Technology.

Alongside technical training, the workshops offer direct experience in professional environments. In this year's edition, students have collaborated in large-scale events in the city, such as the Mercè festivities, where specialists in the entertainment field provided technical support in the assembly, lighting and production of activities for the BAM and Mercè Street Arts festival.

According to data collected from the last call, 94.6% of participants achieved the main objective of the programme: improving their employability. The majority of young people obtained a work contract at the end of the project, while the rest received guidance to link with specific youth employment services.

Barcelona Activa thus reinforces its commitment to youth employment, a group that continues to experience greater difficulties in accessing the job market. The Trade Workshops are part of the public resources that, together with other programmes and services aimed at youths, contribute to generating new professional opportunities.

Interested people can choose the specialty of the Trade Workshops that best suits their interests and professional goals.
