New call for the sale of ground-floor premises in Sants-Montjuïc

Barcelona City Council opens a process for the purchase of commercial spaces to reactivate the local economy within the framework of the ‘Amunt persianes’ (Raise the shutters) programme

Barcelona, 17 Sep 2021

In order to reactivate the economic activity of the city's local shops, Barcelona City Council has opened a new call for the purchasing of ground floor premises in Sants-Montjuïc. The council has started a process of acquiring these commercial spaces in the district for a total value of 1.6 million Euros.

With the premises acquired, a portfolio of Official Protection of Ground Floor Premises (BPO) will be created to be used for the establishment of economic activities at street level. The call to access these facilities will be open to individuals, companies, entities and incorporated companies that will have a lease contract, without endorsements or bonds, of up to 5 years of duration.

The ground floor premises are a strategic asset for the city. In recent years, unemployment has increased and there are currently 5,300 empty commercial spaces in Barcelona. For this reason, the programme ‘Amunt persianes (Raise the shutters) is being promoted, with the collaboration of Barcelona Activa. The initiative focuses on the revitalisation of ground floor premises in the city to reduce the number of empty spaces and promote sustainable employment.

Applications can be submitted until 29th September. If you want more information, check the programme here.
