Barcelona City Council reinforces the productive fabric of the city's neighbourhoods and districts

The City Council, with the collaboration of Barcelona Activa, is giving a new boost to the Local Economic Development Strategy, with new actions until 2023

Barcelona, 28 Feb 2022

The Local Economic Development Strategy (2021-2023) is being reinforced with new measures to strengthen the productive fabric of Barcelona's neighbourhoods and districts. Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Activa, is allocating a budget of 120 million Euros to this project, emphasising the generation of opportunities and needs from a territorial and local perspective

A strategy that aims to address the unequal distribution of economic assets, income and employment through sustainable, equitable and competitive growth. A model that makes Barcelona a city that is committed to articulating the new poles of economic activity with neighbourhood initiatives, social entities, shops, restaurants and services in 10 districts. Six districts with below-average income are included: Ciutat Vella, Sant Martí, Sants-Montjuic, Nou Barris, Horta-Guinardó and Sant Andreu.

Among the measures included in the strategy, Barcelona City Council will promote the Sants Activa and Sant Andreu Activa spaces. Two facilities for the future that will serve to bring the services of Barcelona Activa closer to the territories and citizens who do not usually reach municipal resources.
