From Barcelona Activa, we commemorate the International Women's Day on 8th March by holding various events throughout the week. The scheduled activities will begin on 7th March with the start of the onsite course Porta 22 Coaching women in their job search.

We will start with the presentation and visit of the Lidera space on 8th March at 9.00am. This is an area created and designed by all those women’s organisations in Barcelona that support women in business and entrepreneurship, seeking to generate an entrepreneurial fabric with gender equality in Barcelona. In addition, at 12.00 noon, the IT Talks will be held with the collaboration of the 42 Barcelona campus about Data Science from the gender perspective.

Activities will continue on March 9th.  At 12.00 noon, we will continue with the IT Talks, in this case with a talk on the situation of women in the world of technology, with the researcher from Eurecat, Laia Subirats. In the afternoon, from 4 pm, the Porta 22 space will host an onsite activity in the Work sector called Occupations don’t have a gender. The companies speak!

At 6.00pm Masterclass Cibernàrium will take place, given by Ana Oliveras in the Movistar Centre of Plaça Catalunya, where you can experience e-sports as the former basketball player and CEO of Squarebox does. This activity will coincide with the roundtable about feminine leadership in the SSE business sector, given in the Innoba space.

On Thursday 10th March, the activities will be continuing with a networking for women entrepreneurs, where to create and share experiences on emotional management, business financing, or communication and marketing, among other things. Also, a new IT Talks about feminine leadership in the technological sector will be held, and at 3.30pm, the information session will take place about the programme ‘Path of solidity’: to strengthen and consolidate SSE companies led by women.

We end Women's Week with the IT Talks on the technological revolution and the role of women, given at the Cibernàrium on Friday 11th March, at 12 noon. On 17th March, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, in the Auditorium of MediaTIC the Entrepreneurship Afterwork Programme for Women Managers will be held. Finally, on 7th April, the Cibernàrium Masterclass will be held, a workshop in which Cecilia Tham will give advice on how to start incorporating Deep Tech and technological validation into your company.

Beyond all the activities, from Barcelona Activa we will continue to work to promote gender equality in all sectors of society. According to the Report ‘Women in the labour market’, both the female activity rate (77.4%) and the female employment rate (67.9%) in Barcelona are higher than in Catalonia, Spain and the European Union. Nevertheless, the presence of women in management positions has slowed down, given that at the end of 2021 they occupied 34% of management positions, while in 2020 the figure stood at 38%.
