The Cibernàrium 22@ celebrates CiberWeek

The Barcelona Activa facility has become the venue for an intensive week of digital training for the students of the Barcelona ICT Institute

Barcelona, 14 Sep 2023

The new ICT Institute of Barcelona has opened its doors for the first time with the celebration of CiberWeek. Between 12th and 15th September, the Cibernàrium 22@ has been hosting up to 48 training activities in the digital field in different tools and technologies so that students can discover the free technological training of the Cibernàrium de Barcelona Activa. The week marks the start of the academic year at the new institute, with more than 600 teaching places for vocational training in the digital field.

The CiberWeek has become the students' first point of contact with the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies of Barcelona (ITICB), the new benchmark educational centre in the digital field in the city. The ITICB is located in the MediaTIC building, which also houses Barcelona Activa’s 22@ Cibernàrium, and which is located in the 22@ district, a benchmark area for the technological ecosystem.

This first action stems from the agreement between the Barcelona Education Consortium and Barcelona Activa, which seeks to strengthen the digital fabric of the city and its talent. The agency's proposal presents a continuing and free training resource to contribute to the increase of students' digital skills. For this reason, the Cibernàrium makes available to the ITICB a series of training activities to complement the academic programmes of the vocational training courses.

The 2023-24 academic year opens in the new educational centre with middle and higher education courses in specialties such as microcomputer systems, system administration and mobile and web application development. In addition, students will find opportunities to do internships in the business world and companies will be able to train professionals and prepare them for the world of work. The institute is part of the Be-Pro digital Network, which consists of 7 public centres offering the IT and communications professional family and more than 3,000 students each year.
