BIZ Barcelona and the Employment Fair come to a close filled with opportunities for the future

More than 12,000 people have visited the fairs promoted with the aim of boosting local businesses and the job search

Barcelona, 06 Oct 2023

BIZ Barcelona and the Employment Fair have closed their doors after two very intense days. The Montjuïc pavilion at Fira de Barcelona has welcomed more than 12,000 people who have been able to learn about the city's employment ecosystem. BIZ Barcelona has focused on making SMEs and small businesses more competitive and the Employment Fair has supported citizens looking for work to find interesting work opportunities.

Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Activa, has been responsible for the organisation with the aim of strengthening and diversifying the local economy and promoting better employability. It was an intergenerational meeting space which was promoted with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Barcelona, Pimec, the Metropolitan Area and the Chamber of Commerce.

During the two days of the fairs, the Employment Fair and BIZ have had exhibition spaces for more than 160 companies and entities and 2,200 job search advisory sessions and more than 850 networking interviews have been carried out. More than 230 activities have also been offered, including workshops, advice spaces, demonstrations, and talks that have included the presence of 342 speakers. On the Barcelona Activa stand, 16 emerging companies have been accompanied to help to make them known.

The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Work of Barcelona City Council and Barcelona Activa's president, Raquel Gil, took stock of this year's edition highlighting the fairs as "an excellent demonstration of the continued work of the entities linked to the business world and the employment ecosystem of the city". Gil also emphasised that the aim of the fairs is to "guarantee future opportunities for everyone".
