Barcelona Active launches a new business programme to strengthen the creation of new projects in the city. It is an innovative entrepreneurial initiative to support the new creation and growth of companies that are part of the Blue Economy sector. 

The programme has been created together with two partners such as the Port of Barcelona and Costa Cruceros. In addition, it has other collaborating entities with knowledge of the sector such as the UPC, the Barcelona Nautical Cluster, Seastainable Ventures and Aticco. The initiative is aimed at local companies, since the selected projects must have fiscal and social headquarters in the Barcelona metropolitan area.

Interested companies can apply until 26th September and a selection will be made through interviews. In the first phase, the 20 selected projects that will participate in an intensive bootcamp will be announced. After the seminar, there will be a Demo Day where the final choice will be made from a maximum of 15 projects that will participate in the programme for three months. 

The blue economy sector includes very varied companies, belonging to the nautical, water sports, shipbuilding and maintenance, port activities, blue energy, sustainable fishing and bioeconomy, water treatment, tourism, biotechnology, new nautical materials or eco-design, blue software, transport and marine logistics, among others.
