New Saló del Comerç to boost the competitiveness of local businesses
Barcelona will host a new industry event on 21 and 22 October, offering expert advice, training and resources to help businesses tackle the retail sector’s key challenges.
Barcelona, 09 Oct 2026
The Saló del Comerç, an initiative promoted by Barcelona City Council through Barcelona Activa and organised by Fira de Barcelona, aims to help local businesses respond to challenges such as digitalisation, changing consumer habits, increasing competition and business succession.
The event is aimed at business owners looking to strengthen or grow their businesses, as well as professionals, entrepreneurs and jobseekers interested in the retail sector. It will offer expert advice, practical tools, training and networking opportunities to share experiences and explore new opportunities.
The event will be divided into four areas. La Plaça will host short sessions on sales, digitalisation and consumer trends. The Advisory and Sector Organisations Area will provide personalised advice on marketing, finance, recruitment and digital tools. The Business Succession Area will offer support for transferring business ownership, while El Taller will run intensive training sessions in small groups, covering sales strategies, digitalisation, team management and adapting to market changes.
The initiative brings together leading institutions and organisations representing the retail sector, as well as the city’s local shopping associations. It also forms part of Barcelona’s designation as the 2026 European Capital of Local Retail, recognising the city’s retail model, its capacity for innovation and the sector’s contribution to urban life.
The Saló del Comerç will take place alongside the Saló de l’Ocupació (Employment Fair), helping to connect the retail sector’s recruitment needs with jobseekers and people looking to start a business.
The event will be held in Hall 8 at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue. Admission is free, but advance online registration is required.
