The benchmark centre for Socio-Economic Innovation and the Social and Solidarity Economy has moved to the Horta-Guinardó district

Barcelona, 16 Mar 2023

InnoBA has moved from Can Jaumandreu, in the district of Sant Martí, to Ca n'Andalet, in Horta-Guinardó. The historic building has 900m2 and becomes the new Barcelona Activa benchmark facility for the city's Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) ecosystem. The change of space aims to promote a new axis of economic innovation in the northern area of Barcelona and promote training, outreach and business strengthening.

The new centre where the InnoBA is located, joins the network of facilities that promote SSE in the city. The space will host activities, specialised services, research and experimentation spaces. Basic training is also offered, as the facility is aimed both at people and organisations who are starting out in the social economy, as well as those with ongoing projects. Ca n'Andalet will also maintain the services of economic promotion and employment in the Horta-Guinardó district that have been carried out until now.

The InnoBAdora+ will also be located there, the incubation community for socio-economic initiatives. It is a collaborative work environment open to all entities of the Social and Solidarity Economy. As well as the space, it also offers business support, specialised training and sessions to exchange experiences and knowledge, among others. There are already 8 entities that have set up there, and a call has been opened to welcome twenty more initiatives, which will join the 34 organisations incubated in recent years.

To celebrate the opening of the space, an event was organised to present the new lines on 16th March. In the meeting, a balance was made of the trajectory at Can Jaumandreu and the strategy to be followed was presented. The Managing Director of Barcelona Activa, Félix Ortega, highlighted that the weight of SSE companies served by Barcelona Activa went from 3.5% in 2015 to 10.4% in 2022. Ortega also emphasised that the SSE sector represents 8% of employment in the city.
