The Barcelona Expat Week is an initiative set up as an alternative to the Barcelona International Community Day fair, which was postponed this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This new event in digital format is aimed at the city’s international community.

The event is led by City Promotion, the Barcelona City Council’s Department of International Promotion. Barcelona Expat Week offers a platform to create a digital community made up of the city’s ecosystem of international talent, developed by Copernic, a start-up located in the Technology Park.

The first session, which was held on Monday 19th of October, emphasised the potential of the city of Barcelona as a centre of attraction for talent, as well as outlining the objectives of the Barcelona Green Deal, the new economic agenda being carried out by the Barcelona City Council. The deal, which aims to move towards a more sustainable and resilient city model, is based on three key factors: competitivity, sustainability and equity.

Barcelona Activa is participating in the Expat Week as an active agent by hosting different webinars:

- Meet & Share. Train in the digital world and expand your professional horizon, presented by ICT experts of the Cibernàrium.

- Our competencies and skills: the added value to our talent, presented by the Orientation and Training service.

- The keys to becoming an entrepreneur in Barcelona and getting funded, presented by expert staff members of entrepreneurial services.

- ‘Barcelona’s self-employed professionals never stop’, where the Business Support Office will explain the municipal measures directed at the international community’s autonomous professionals.
