Barcelona signs an agreement to promote quality employment in the city

Barcelona City Council and some sixty entities and organisations reach an agreement to reduce inequalities in the labour market

Barcelona, 20 Apr 2022

Barcelona Activa, Barcelona City Council and more than 50 entities and organisations of the city have signed the Barcelona Agreement for Quality Employment 2021-2030. The initiative has been promoted with the aim of reducing the temporary nature and inequalities of the labour market with quality contracts, more opportunities and greater stability in the workplace.

The Agreement is structured around 3 strategic axes such as equity, innovation and social agreement, which are deployed through 12 goals and 38 lines of action. The document also includes the "Decalogue of Quality Employment in Barcelona", which sets out the priorities for the next decade. The initiative aims to promote digitalisation, social and territorial cohesion, support in processes of incorporation into the labour market, the allocation of grants and recruitment subsidies.

In order to implement the policies included in the Agreement, all the signatory entities have designed biannual action plans. The first plan includes important challenges such as the reduction of long-term unemployment and youth unemployment, taking into account the parameters of competitiveness, sustainability and equity fixed by the roadmap, the Barcelona Green Deal. In addition, it will adopt measures within the framework of the Next Generation projects, European programmes and municipal actions in strategic sectors.
