With the incorporation of Barcelona, the FUE - Business One-Stop Shop now has a presence in 97% of the municipalities and offers a service to 95% of the population

Barcelona, 28 Jan 2022

The Generalitat and Barcelona City Council, together with the Provincial Councils of Barcelona, Girona, Lleida and Tarragona, the Catalan Association of Municipalities (ACM), the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia (FMC) and the Open Administration Consortium of Catalonia (AOC) have established the agreement to complete the deployment of the Business One-Stop Shop (FUE) throughout the Catalan territory.

Barcelona City Council's adherence to the FUE forms part of one of the measures established in the ‘Barcelona Easy Plan’, that the municipality began in 2021 and that foresees, through the leadership of Barcelona Activa’s Business Support Office (OAE), a reduction in the procedures and processes to start up an economic activity. The aim of this initiative is to improve the perception and simplify the relationship between the economic activity and the administration, streamlining the resources and dialogue between these two agents.

The Business One-Stop Shop (FUE) is a strategic project promoted by the Generalitat, with the aim of achieving a change in the relationship between companies and the administration, as well as facilitating economic activity based on business confidence. The initiative seeks to increase the number of procedures in electronic format.

The FUE is already present in 97% of Catalan municipalities and offers a service to 95% of the population. In addition, the deployment of this new project benefits the more than 650,000 self-employed workers and companies throughout Catalonia, who will be able to manage their procedures in a comprehensive and unified way electronically or through the network of Business Management Offices (OGE).

The First Deputy Mayor of Barcelona City Council, Jaume Collboni, highlighted that "with the incorporation of Barcelona into the Business One-Stop Shop, we are taking another step forward in our goal of facilitating the economic activity in the city, especially for self-employed people, while at the same time that we continue to reduce the costs and procedures necessary for the creation of companies". The future goal of the FUE is to comply with the Law to Facilitate economic activity, which would mean savings of 38 million Euros per year for the self-employed and companies.
