Barcelona Activa participates in the world trade fair of the MWC-4YFN

The agency has presented the services and spaces for emerging companies and has also facilitated the presence at the fair of 28 start-ups from its environment

Barcelona Activa has formed part yet another year of the world trade fair of MWC-4YFN presenting its services and organising talks and networking activities. In addition, the entity has facilitated the presence at the congress of 28 start-ups, incubated or participants in support programmes of the agency, who have been able to present their companies and make contacts.

Within its stand, Barcelona Activa has held various talks on city initiatives in relation to emerging sectors such as the blue economy, Information and Communication Technologies, deep-tech, sports tech and digital talent. In addition, different programmes have been presented, such as Barcelona Activa’s Pre-acceleration programme, aimed at companies of high technological impact in the early stages.

The agency has also organised a round table, "Barcelona Deep Tech Hub", with experts from the university and research fields. The Barcelona Deep Tech Startup Demoday also took place, a space where the most important deep-tech spin-offs were presented. Furthermore, 21 Barcelona Activa startups have had the opportunity to make a public pitch in the Discovery Area. And finally, Barcelona Activa and Mobile World Capital have organised a junior digital talent marketplace to connect the best digital talent among new professional profiles and companies in the sector.

According to the participating start-ups, Barcelona Activa offers an ideal climate to advise and boost entrepreneurial projects. Moreover, Barcelona has also positioned itself as one of the top three European ecosystems to host start-ups, according to Start-up Heatmap Europe.    

The Catalan capital is the eighth most promising city in Europe for emerging technology companies according to the first edition of the Tech Cities of the Future ranking 2020produced by fDi Intelligence. The city excels in the category of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment in Technology Projects) in which it ranks 5th, just behind London, Dublin, Paris and Amsterdam.
