Barcelona Activa ha presentado el Dossier Barcelona Startups, una radiografía del impacto de Barcelona Activa has presented the Barcelona Startups Report, an overview of the impact of our services on the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The report reveals that four in ten Barcelona startups have used these services at some point, highlighting our role in supporting innovative entrepreneurship.

With almost 40 years of experience, Barcelona Activa supports around 250 startups every year, from the early stages of business model validation to accessing investment and growing their businesses. Around 50 of these startups join our incubation services each year, which have recorded a 76% five-year survival rate, almost twice the national average.

Access to funding is one of the areas of support most in demand among startups. Through the Business Support Office (OAE), they receive guidance on identifying funding opportunities, preparing applications and defining their growth strategies. Overall, this service has helped startups secure more than €229 million in public and private funding.

The report also highlights the growing role of women in innovative entrepreneurship. 43% of the startups incubated by Barcelona Activa have at least one female co-founder, reflecting the increasingly significant presence of women in the creation and development of business projects.

Our commitment to innovation is reflected in the transformation of our incubators into Startup Labs, specialised facilities designed to host and support deep tech companies. Currently, deep tech companies account for 79% of all businesses based in these facilities: the Startup Lab in the 22@ district hosts 24 companies in this field, while the Startup Lab Nord hosts a further 11.

The findings of the report reinforce Barcelona Activa’s role as one of the city’s key organisations supporting entrepreneurship and contributing to the development of an innovative, diverse and competitive ecosystem.
