The ThinkNet of Barcelona Activa tackles new challenges of youth employment

The second working session of our network of professionals focused on the challenges of improving the employment situation of young people in the city

Barcelona, 23 Jun 2022

The ThinkNet, Barcelona Activa's knowledge exchange network held its second working session focused on tackling the city's youth situation in the labour market. Experts, those responsible for promoting youth employment and representatives from organisations such the Barcelona Centre Logístic, TechBarcelona, Parc Industrial, 22@Network and FEGiCAT have worked together by means of exchange working groups.

The different spaces for debate have served to identify problems related to the labour insertion of young people and to propose solutions to the problems they suffer. The working groups also provided insights into the economic sectors of the future and new trends in career guidance.

The contribution of ThinkNet joins Barcelona Activa's ongoing initiatives to foster youth employment, such as the JO+ programmes. The project offers job opportunities to the city's youth and provides support during the job search process. It also facilitates direct contact with companies and access to online and onsite activities, to enhance the individual skills of the participants.

The ThinkNet exchange network is made up of 24 leading figures in the fields of employment, entrepreneurship, social cohesion, territorial development and training. It is a network of professionals who collaborate closely with Barcelona Activa to respond to the city's challenges and needs. It works around three main axes: the fostering of youth employment, the impact of the digital transformation on the local economy and innovative business models.
