The Ciutat Vella district has opened a new call for Official Protection Ground Floor premises, a programme with the aim of revitalising empty ground floor premises and thus reactivating the local economy. In this third edition, which is promoted with the collaboration of Barcelona Activa, a total of 9 premises will be made available for businesses and local initiatives.

Offers for the premises may be submitted until 29th October and the call is both open to individuals as well as to already established companies, entities and enterprises. The adjudicated businesses will have a lease without endorsements or bonds for a duration of up to 5 years, extendable for up to 7 years. In addition, they will pay a rent well below the market price of the area, adjusted according to the characteristics of the space.

The call is part of ‘Amunt Persianes’(“Raise the shutters) a strategy focused on boosting ground floor premises to reduce the number of empty spaces in the city and diversify their uses. In the granting of nine rental contracts, the projects that present actions of sustainable economic recovery and that meet the specific needs of the neighbourhood will be prioritised. The resolution of the adjudication is foreseen for March 2022.
