Barcelona Activa is starting the programme Sport-up! with the aim of supporting the creation and growth of companies in the sector of innovative and technological sports industry with a global vision in Barcelona

The launch of the programme begins with the selection of a maximum of 12 sports projects. Registration is open until 30th May to all start-ups that develop their activity in the sports sector or physical activity, above all those that are in the validation phase of their product on the market, or have a prototype on the point of being completed.

The sectors that can participate are: wearables, e-sports, digital training, fantasy sports, sports marketplaces, data apps and physical activity software, tools for sports professionals and sports spectacle management.

In a first pre-selection phase, 20 projects will be chosen to participate in an intensive boot camp with the teams of AtticoLab. They will be working on modeling the project for four days, a Demo Day (presentation of pitches) and finally, they will present the project to a tribunal made up of people from the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the sportstech sector.

The 12 selected projects will have access to training, coaching, personalised mentoring, with an itinerary according to the needs of each one, and networking activities expressly selected to help carry out their projects and support in the search for funding. In addition, they will be able to access a workspace in the Almogàvers Incubator.

The first edition of Sport-up! will last 8 months, from June 2021 until January 2022. At the end of the edition a jury will evaluate the best project, which will receive a prize endowed with 10,000 Euros by Barcelona Activa.

The aim of this action is to develop a benchmark programme for the creation of companies in the field of the sports technology industry with the collaboration of AtticoLab and the sports industry cluster INDESCAT.

Sport-up! is part of the initiative led by the Institut de Barcelona Esports (IBE) which has announced the creation of a hub for sports, technology and innovation (Barcelona Sports Tech Hub) to contribute to positioning Barcelona as a European benchmark in the sportstech sector.
