The events aim to highlight the role of working women and have the goal of providing resources and ideas for consolidating gender equality, especially in the world of work

International Women’s Day is celebrated every 8th March, and Barcelona Activa has prepared two weeks full of talks, events and activities in digital format in which working women will be portrayed, and resources and ideas will be offered with the aim of advancing towards greater gender equality at work and equal working conditions.   

These are the activities and talks worth highlighting for commemorating International Women’s day, which will begin today, and can be followed through streaming:  

Wednesday 3rd March, at 10.00am:  Talk 'Women in the digital economy and technology sector in Barcelona during the Covid-19 era’.
A Conference of inspiration and reflection where women business leaders in the digital economy and technology sector will explain their experiences

Wednesday 3rd March, at 4.00pm: Jobs don’t have a gender!
A Conference in which people who have broken the traditional gender barrier in certain professions will participate

Thursday 4th March, at 6.30pm: The importance of techno-diversity: How to tackle with algorithmic biases from an inclusive perspective.
Master class given by the technician from the UXLab of Barcelona Activa, Judith Membrives, which aims to awaken interest in a different approach to the conceptualisation and design of algorithms. Through specific case studies, the predominant narratives around technology and their consequences will be analysed.

Saturday 6th March: Awarding of certificates to the students of the hygienic-sanitary care course to dependent people.
Awarding of certificates to the students of the course of hygienic-sanitary attention of dependent people, organised by Barcelona Activa. The initiative is promoted by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in collaboration with other public and private institutions both national and international.

Monday 8th March, at 10.00am: We are Lidera. And you, do you want to be part of it?
A conference that will highlight the programmes and activities of Lidera and give visibility to women entrepreneurs, professionals and managers who have attended the programme. In a special way, there will be a tribute and an act of gratitude to the women who are and have been mentors. 

Wednesday 10th March, at 4.00pm: Woman, Time and Work.  Time for women.
Session where the difficulties that women have in the labour market will be explained: the uses of time, the glass ceiling, the wage gap, the masculinised sectors, etc.

Wednesday 17th March: Presentation of the study 'The sticky floor of women in the city of Barcelona'.
The aim of this conference is to present the results of the study and give visibility to the problem of the sticky floor, which identifies the female work experience. This term refers to the inability of many women to get promoted in their jobs. 

Wednesday 17th March, at 10.00am: Talk 'Women in the care and people's services field in Barcelona during the Covid-19 era’.
A Conference of inspiration and reflection where women business leaders in the care people's services field will explain their experiences.
