IT Academy strengthens its training in web programming

76% of people that completed their training at IT Academy have found work in the IT sector

Barcelona, 02 Nov 2020

76% of people that completed their training at IT Academy have found work in the IT sector – a figure that speaks for itself. Because of this, Barcelona Activa have decided that in 2021, the number of available slots will be increased to 800.

The IT Academy specialised training by Cibernàrium is for anyone who wants to get trained in web programming. The registration period is permanently open and informative sessions are regularly offered.

The success model of IT Academy is owed to public-private collaboration, with businesses as vital actors within the programme: businesses participate in training programmes, networking events, learning by doing workshops, and much more.

Technological training as a key to overcome today’s struggles

Talent is one of the main drivers of economic reactivation. Barcelona Activa’s objective is to train 3,000 professionals in IT Academy over the next five years, to keep boosting the Catalan capital’s economic and technological competitivity.

Currently in Barcelona, the sector with the most jobs being generated is the IT sector; between 2012 and 2018, more than 20,000 were employed in this sector. Furthermore, Barcelona is one of the main hubs for innovation in Southern Europe, thanks to two of its most valuable assets: high-skilled workers and location of the city.

The growing trend in the digital sector is also evident in the business sector. IT companies have grown by 49%, and the economy linked to IT represents 8% of the city’s GDP.

To strengthen technological training and meet the needs of digital profiles in the market, Barcelona Activa established Cibernàrium more than 20 years ago, which has become the centre of reference in ICT and digital training, with a practical-based teaching methodology and a vast range of training courses – streaming and online - that are flexible and accessible to all.
