IT Academy recognises students with a graduation ceremony

The celebration gave visibility to 50 students who have completed specialised ICT training focused on meeting the demand for digital professionals in the city

Barcelona Activa has celebrated the graduation of around fifty students from IT Academy, the technological training centre promoted with the aim of responding to the high demand for digital talent claimed by the city's business fabric. The event has brought to an end the learning process of the people graduating and has served to recognise their effort.

The event took place on Wednesday 20th July in the auditorium of the Cibernàrium of Barcelona Activa. The inauguration of the celebration was carried out by the first Deputy Mayor, Jaume Collboni, accompanied by Fèlix Ortega, Managing Director of Barcelona Activa, Sara Díaz, Director of promotion of digital talent and Lorenzo di Pietro, Executive Director of entrepreneurship, enterprise and innovation.

As well as awarding diplomas, the graduation ceremony included a roundtable moderated by Martí Rodríguez, project manager, and made up of four IT Academy students who shared their recent experience in the labour market: Adriana Biarnés, Patricia Pérez, Ana Maria Sanz and Cristina Mateos. All of them have in common the professional success achieved after their graduation.

IT Academy offers specialised ICT training to people who are unemployed or with career change goals. Since its inception in 2018, IT Academy has trained more than 4,500 people and 82% of participants have found work in an emerging sector, which has grown by more than 46% in the last year. The programme offers activities of reskilling, that train professionals from other fields who want to acquire ICT skills, and also of upskilling, with the aim of helping professionals in the sector to get up to date with the latest digital tools, as well as unemployed people who want to start from scratch.
