Barcelona Activa to receive a budget of 52.5 million euros

It is the largest budget Barcelona Activa has received in its 34 years of existence, 79% of which will be allocated by the Barcelona City Council

Barcelona, 13 Oct 2020

In 2021, Barcelona Activa will receive funding of 52.5 million euros, the largest budget it has seen since its establishment 34 years ago. 79% of the funding will be allocated by the Barcelona City Council, a 5-point budget increase from last year.

The Vice Mayor and President of Barcelona Activa, Jaume Collboni, has pledged that the objective is to respond to the current situation provoked by the Covid-19 crisis, to incentivise the reactivation of the economy and to foster quality employment.

Moreover, the budget allocation will be used to support entrepreneurs, companies and sustainable business models, to strengthen actions that favour strategic sectors, to promote the digitalisation of the economic fabric, and increase the skills of people and organisations.

Barcelona Activa expects this budget to increase via external funding, which will be channelled through the Catalan Occupation Service (SOC), funding from the European Commission’s Next Generation instrument, and the use of the municipal surplus.
