Barcelona City Council, Endesa and Barcelona Comerç start the programme 're-connectant' to digitalise local shops

Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Activa, and together with Endesa and Barcelona Comerç, present the programme re-connectant

Barcelona, 09 Jun 2021

Re-connectant is a programme that aims to support the digitalisation of 400 shops in the city of Barcelona to reactivate their economic activity after the post-pandemic crisis.

Endesa is responsible for financing this initiative with 500,000 Euros within the framework of its Public Responsibility Plan for COVID-19, Barcelona Comerç will be in charge of managing and coordinating the team of 20 young digital agents who will accompany the shops in this digitalisation process and Barcelona City Council will be coordinating the programme.

This plan has two central axes: on the one hand to digitalise the shops that have little presence on the Internet and without implementing communication elements and online sales. To do this, a support service specialising in digitalisation will be tailor-made for each shop; boosting young talent by hiring 20 digital agents who will be responsible for monitoring and the personalised implementation in each shop.

The project is part of the Barcelona Retail Digitalisation Plan, which the council launched with the start of the pandemic, in order to reduce the adverse effects of the crisis and to boost the competitiveness and digitalisation of onsite commerce, especially, local. Currently, they already enjoy the benefits of deregulating127 shops and more than 3,638 hours of advice have been scheduled related to the different actions included in the tailor-made digitalisation plan created for each shop, as explained in this Twitter thread.

The shops that have not yet accessed the programme and are interested, can do so by presenting their application at the following link.
