Barcelona Activa offers new language training

The Reskilling Languages programme organises French, German and English courses and specialised training in the tourism, retail and hospitality sectors

Barcelona, 16 Aug 2022

Languages are considered a basic skill that must be mastered in order to adapt to the labour market. In Barcelona, the need is particularly accentuated due to sectors such as tourism and hospitality, which play a key role in the economy and in the development of the city.

Yet another year, Barcelona Activa and the Official Schools of Languages (EOI) are once again launching the initiative Reskilling Languages. The programme aims to offer citizens free language training in English, French and German and also in English for the workplace in sectors such as tourism, retail and hospitality.

People who want to access the training can choose the course that suits them best according to their interests and knowledge. The aim of the certificate is to recognise the student's effort and offer a competitive advantage in the labour market. Once the course has been completed, they will receive an A1, A2, B1, B2 or higher level certification and will be able to prove language proficiency, a common requirement in staff selection processes.

The training will be given online and is aimed at all the citizens of Barcelona, although people in a situation of unemployment or ERTO (Furlough) will have priority when entering the programme. Interested people can determine exactly what their level is in a language and choose the most suitable training for them once they have pre-registered for the course and the subsequent EOI level test.
