Important information
Remember that, before starting any activity in Barcelona, you must obtain the necessary licenses or present communication of activity. You can check the requirements for any activity, and the applicable regimen, as well as the list of activities included in the Communication Regimen at any of the Citizen Services Offices or by phone on 010(*), or 807 117 700(**) for calls originating outside the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.
If it were necessary to carry out building work, you would have to obtain permits from the Barcelona City Council. The type of license (building work license, notification of building work, declaration of building work or authorization for urgent actions) depends on the location of the work and the class of work to be carried out. You can check the requirements for any work, and the applicable regimen, at any of the Citizen Services Offices or by phone on 010(*), or 807 117 700(**) for calls originating outside the Barcelona Metropolitan Area
In order to obtain a building permit, you must provide details of the work to be carried out and a quote. If you need a declaration of building work, you can request it immediately and it will be sent by post to the provided postal address. In all other cases, the Citizen Services Offices will provide information on where permits must be obtained, and the necessary procedures and documentation.
