Employment is a necessary factor for personal development and social cohesion. Barcelona, like the major developed cities, has a very active and dynamic labour market, that lives together with pockets of structural unemployment. In this context the development of mixed policies for employment and insertion becomes a priority, with the aim that people, above all those with special difficulties, have more tools that allow them to improve their employability and their future perspectives.
Barcelona Activa designs programmes to give adequate and innovative responses to the people in search of work, taking into account their needs, and those of companies also, so that only in this way, by observing the business reality, is it possible to ensure the efficacy of the actions in terms of insertion in the labour market.
The line of action, inclusion and improvement of employment, counts on the facilities of Can Jaumandreu and the Convent de Sant Agustí, spaces specialised in attending people who need training, orientation and assessment for labour insertion.
Barcelona Activa offers people looking for work labour orientation (Itineraries for professional insertion), training (vocational and tailor-made training in sectors with high demand for professionals), inclusion programmes (the Programme for Socio-Labour Inclusion, the programme for New Opportunities of Access to Work for women, the Youth Plan Training-Employment), and work experience programmes that combine training and work experience (Workshop Schools, Trade Skills Houses, Employment Workshops, Employment Plans).
