Projects of International Technical Assistance for the Transfer of Methodologies

Barcelona Activa has a long experience in international co-operation relations through the transfer and exchange of knowledge and methodologies for business creation & growth, ICT skills acquisition and diffusion and local development in other countries.

The co-operation activity performed by Barcelona Activa has resulted in a wide range of programmes, activities and new contents for the citizens of Barcelona and other cities and regions of the world

Technical assistance to the CERNE Programme – Reference Amenities to Support Innovative Entrepreneurship - (Brazil)
 
Date: Project that started in 2008 with completion planned for last quarter of 2009. Project Description: Barcelona Activa provides technical assistance for the conceptualization and implementation of methodologies and tools to support business creation and business growth for the Brazilian national Network of Business Incubators and Technology Parks ANPROTEC (Brazilian National Association to promote innovative enterpreneurship) with the support of SEBRAE. This project has resulted in the organization of technical seminars for the transfer of methodologies and tools to support entrepreneurship and business growth. Partners: ANPROTEC (Brazilian National Association of Entities Promoting Innovative Enterprises), which acts on its own behalf and on behalf of SEBRAE (Brazilian Support Service for Microbusinesses and SMEs). Funded by: ANPROTEC and SEBRAE.

“Bogota Emprende” (Bogotá Starts Up). Bogotá (Colombia) 

 Date: Project started in 2006 with completion planned for late 2012. Project Description: Barcelona Activa provides technical assistance for the conceptualization and implementation of a centre to foster entrepreneurship in the city of Bogotá. This project has resulted in a first stage, in the support for the creation of the centre “Bogota Emprende” (Bogotá Starts Up), managed jointly by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and the Bogotá City Council, and the provision of training, maintenance and technical assistance for the transfer of the digital tool Business Plan on line. Partners: Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and Mayor of Bogota.

Coordinating Unit of Employment Policies in Bogota (Colombia)
 
Date: project started in 2006 and completed in September 2007. Project Description: Barcelona Activa 
has advised the City Council of Bogotá in its strategy to articulate a policy for promoting local employment and entrepreneurship in Bogotá, a s part of an overall strengthening of the Department of Employment Policies of the City Council of Bogotá. Partners: City Council of Bogotá. Funded by: the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB).

“Parque del Emprendimiento” (Entrepreneurship Park), Medellín (Colombia)
 
Date: Project started in April 2006 and completed in March 2008. Project Description: Barcelona Activa provided technical assistance for the conceptualization and implementation of a centre to promote entrepreneurship in the city of Medellin, Parque del Emprendimiento (Entrepreneurship Park). This project, promoted by the Municipality of Medellín and the University of Antioquia, has implied the provision of training, maintenance and technical assistance for the transfer of the digital tools Business Plan on line and Test Idea. Partners: University of Antioquia and Medellin Public Enterprise Foundation. Funded by: University of Antioquia, Medellin Public Enterprise Foundation and Medellín City Council.

“Factoría del Conocimiento” (Knowledge Factory), Quito (Ecuador)
 
Date: Project started in February 2007 and completed in December 2008. Project Description: Barcelona Activa provided technical assistance for the conceptualisation and implementation of “Factoría del Conocimiento” (Knowledge Factory), a centre to boost entrepreneurship in the city of Quito (Ecuador). This project has implied the provision of services of training, maintenance and technical assistance for the transfer of the digital tools Business Plan  on line and Test Idea. Partner: CONQUITO, Economic Promotion Corporation of the City of Quito. Funded by: CONQUITO, Economic Promotion Corporation of the City of Quito. 

Technical assistance for the implementation of the digital tool Business Plan on line to the Government of Andorra

Date: Project started in November 2006 and completed in 2007. Project Description: Following the signature of an agreement by Barcelona Activa and the Government of Andorra, to jointly promote entrerpreneurship in the Principality of Andorra, Barcelona Activa has provided services of training, maintenance and technical assistance to transfer the digital tool business plan on line to the  Department of Strategic Projects of the Andorran Government. Partner: Government of Andorra (Department of Strategic Projects). Funded by: Government of Andorra.


Poslovni Business Incubator of the Sarajevo Canton (Bosnia & Herzegovina) 


Date:
Projecte developed in 2003. Description of the project: Barcelona Activa provide technical assistance to the local team in charge of the project in the conceptualisation and setting up of the Poslovni Business Incubator of the Sarajevo Canton with the aim to support economic development of the Sarajevo Economic Region. The Business Incubator started to operate in 2003 and is currently incubating 31 ICT businesses that employ 150 workers. Partner: SERDA (Development Agency of the Sarajevo Canton Economic Region). Funded by:  AECI - Spanish Agency of International Cooperation.


Information and Coaching Centre for Entrepreneurs in Maarif – Casablanca (Morocco)


Date: Project developed during 1996. Description of the project: Barcelona Activa provided technical assistance to the local team in charge of the project in the conceptualisation and setting up of the Coaching Centre for young unemployed Entrepreneurs that wished to promote a self-employment business project. The Centre started to operate in 1996, coaching 100 business projects in its first year. Partners: Urban Community of Maarif and the Commissioner for Civil Rights of the Barcelona City Council. 

Project INCREQUITO – Initiative for the strengthening of Quito's business growth services (Ecuador)


Date: the project started in 2010 and will end in 2011. Description of the project: Barcelona Activa provides technical assistance to in the strengthening of services to support SMEs in the areas of business internationalization, access to funding, the improvement of management strategies and business cooperation. Partners: CONQUITO Municipal Agency of Economic Development of the Metropolitan Municipality of Quito. Funded by:  ACCD - Catalan Agency of Cooperation for Development and ACC1Ó 

Project: Creation of content for virtual incubator of the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Mexico). 

Date: the project started in 2009 and will be completed in 2010.  Description of the project: Barcelona Activa provides technical assistance in the concept building, production of materials, management and design strategy of a web portal for the ITESM aimed at coaching entrepreneurs, SMEs and microbusinesses. Partners: Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. Funded by: Inter-American Development Bank.

Project: Strengthening of the entrepreneurship support services in Cape Town (South Africa). 

Date: the project began in 2009 and will be completed in 2011. Description of the Project:  Barcelona Activa provides technical assistance to the City of Cape Town for the restructuring of its charter of services to support entrepreneurship and business growth, as well as in the transfer of methodologies and tools to support business creation, growth and incubation. Partner: City of Cape Town.

Innovation District of Medellín(Colombia)

Date: Project started in February 2012 and ended in November 2014. Partners: Barcelona Activa, Caja de Compensación familiar de Antioquia, COMFAMA and Corporación Ruta N. Project goal: the project aimed at transferring to the City of Medellin the experience obtained by the city of Barcelona in the transformation process of the 22 @District, which used to be an industrial district, into a technology district. The City of Medellín needed such a support to develop its own technology district. The project included several actions aimed at identifying those elements, resources and methodologies of urban, economic and social innovation in Barcelona that would be suitable for the new technological district of Medellin.
